Limacella section Amanitellae Gminder
[?emend. prov. Tulloss] consists of all and only those species of the genus Limacella that
(a) have many terminal cells of gluten-supporting hyphae conic or subconic,
(b) with such terminal cells frequently having a subtending cell, or subtending short chain of cells, that is/are inflated (globose, subglobose, broadly ellipsoid, or other).
It is also the case (but not part of the proposed definition of this section), that all known taxa of this section have a persistent, membranous, partial veil (ring, annulus) on the stipe.—R. E. Tulloss
